Tradition and innovation in perfect harmony. Groundbreaking folk tunes on Bukkene Bruse´s new CD!
Traditional and Modern
The debut CD came out in August 1993, and received fine reviews. The second CD, ÅRE, came out in 1995, developing further the musical ideas from the first, but also heightened by the inspiration and experiences the musicians had gathered in the course of a number of tours. This years’ new CD, Steinsolen, follows it up, but also breaks new ground. This time all four have contributed with new compositions, while at the same time they are fully aware of the rousing traditional music. Steinstolen is a powerful, mature record, on which use is made of both traditional and modern instruments.
Bukkene Bruse in China
In the autumn of 1994 the Bukkene Bruse represented Norway in China at the celebrations of 40 years’ co-operation between Norway and China. Besides giving a big concert in the Haidian Theatre, they worked together with leading Chinese folk musicians, appearing before the leaders of Chinese government and the Norwegian Foreign Minister.
Official Olympic Musicians
In 1992, two years before the Olympic Games in Lillehammer, the Olympic Games Organising Committee chose the Bukkene Bruse as official Olympic musicians. This commission brought them to the USA, Japan, Spain and Germany, among other things in connection with Queen Sonja’s exhibition “Winterland”. In the actual month of the Games the trio had a very busy program, both touring Norway with American musicians and various concerts at Lillehammer during the Games. They took part in the final ceremony, which was broadcast round the world. Bukkene Bruse toured Norway and abroad in connection with their new CD Steinstolen.
