Sagene Ring release their third album
A story behind every song
Behind every song there is a story or a place along Aker river, or east of the river.
«=Oslo» is for those who walk around in the streets trying to raise money to buy drugs. «Jonny på benken» (Jonny on the bench) is for the enthusiast who sacrificed himself for the soccer team despite the fact that he never had any talent. «Spartacus» was the first worker’s sports club in Norway, founded in 1920. The team’s motto was «not as a profession, but in the classes interest».
The song «Nattas fløyel blir til stål» is a tribute to the dawn of the winter city, where people live behind the windows. There, they fall in love, as in «Floriss» and «Suzanne», but it becomes complicated in «Jenta fra Arendal» (the girl from Arendal) and ends with a breakup in «Ikke skap deg mer nå». The theft of the Munch paintings in august 2004 was an inspiration for writing and composing «Balladen om Skrik og Madonna» (the ballad about Scream and Madonna).
«Linda» is a story about the newborn Linda, which was thrown in the Aker river by her young mother, and represents a look back on the recent past when an unwanted child could be a disaster for a young factory girl.
The history keeps rolling, and we are all «Spor i sanden» (marks in the sand) that gradually disappear. All this while new children are born and fall asleep to «Karis vuggesang» (Kari’s lullaby).
