A Musical Journey with Sigmund Groven
The release of Siesta attracted international attention, and confirmed Sigmund Groven as an artist of world class. And the album is really a musical journey through the world, with songs that draw inspiration both from the Norwegian mountains and fjords, and from the rhythmic pulse of Spain. Groven is a fabulous instrumentalist, with fervor and emotion he shows a tremendous breadth of expression. The repertoire is varied, ranging from virtuoso versions of old favorites to more contemporary compositions. As a red thread through it all we hear Groven´s magic harmonica, accompanied by several of Norway´s elite musicians. Groven dares to think harmonica in exciting new contexts. This he explores in his own compositions, but also in the interpretations of the wor of others. Siesta is a shining example of Sigmund Groven´s ability to be distinctive, personal and versatile at the same time.

Highlights
Other highlights include virtuoso versions of old favorites such as "Granada" and "Begin the Beguin". In addition we find an arrangement of one of Beethoven’s most beautiful melodies where Groven is accompanied by his teacher and inspirer, Tommy Reilly. "Serenade" shows that the harmonica is also doing well in a distinctly classical context.
Respect for the repertoire
The repertoire is varied, but all bound together by Groven´s harmonica. He has brought in different musicians, depending on what each composition requires. Among the contributors we find Kjetil Bjerkestrand on synthesizer, Ivar Anton Waagaard on piano, Pål Thowsen on drums, Anna Vada on vocals, Iver Kleive on piano, Steinar Larsen on guitar and Bjørn Kjellemyr on bass.
