Lillebjørn and Steinar

Lillebjørn Nilsen and Stein Ofsdal, two gifted musicians from Oslo, Norway, began their musical association as high school students during the late 1960s. This recording is of their first concerts in America on July 13 and 14, 1979, at the Nordland Fest, on the campus of Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD. The audiences of Norwegian-Americans gave them the same warm reception which they have long enjoyed in Europe.

Within Norway Lillebjørn is a leading entertainment figure. He appears frequently on Norwegian television and radio, and his albums as a solo performer have been enormously popular, several having earned him gold records. Steinar is a classical trained musician, a graduate of the reknowned Carl Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria. His multiple talents as an instrumentalist have placed him in great demandas a studio musician. He plays more than eighty different instruments, specializing in strings and a wide variety of flutes. We are proud to present this recording of the American debut of these two celebrated Norwegian musicians. Their exuberant interpretations of old and new selections give new life to a rich tradition of the Old World.
