A musical review of a miner’s life in Kongsberg

"A Silver Mountain" is a musical story about the Silver Mines of Kongsberg, its community and the life of the miners in the period 1623-1958. The 20 songs on the album take you on an amazing journey and tell stories about the silver finding in Sandvær, one of the all-time Norwegian industrial companies, the first workers movement in Norway, as well as the coming together of various cultures and human destinies.

These are stories about the tall and the low, the rich and the poor, the daily battle for bread, the work struggle finding place several meters of hours underground, the hardcore guys as well as kind-hearted minds. A well-stocked booklet in the cover contains a brief historical overview, all the songs and names of musicians in addition to the usual information you find. The production is supported by Fund for Performing Artists, the Norwegian Mining Museum, a benefactor and Roy’s Caterers in Kongsberg.

Ragnar Sør Olsen

Ragnar Sør Olsen is a folk singer, musician, composer, songwriter and an artist with great musical versatility and breadth. He has his musical genes from Telemar, Numedal and Setersdal, where outstanding fiddlers can be traced the family. Sør Olsen has released two previous albums, Dagane (2004) and Stykkevis og Helt (2009). He has cooperated with Tore Tveit, Bodil Cappelen and Klaus Hagerup to mention a few.
