The album En natt forbi includes the title track which is still regarded as one of Jan Eggum´s most beautiful and touching songs. Eggum first wrote "En natt forbi" in English when he lived in London. Later he reworked the song into a Norwegian version that was included on Wenche Myhre´s release Wenche in 1976, for which she received the Norwegian Grammy Award (Spellemannprisen). Besides the well-known title track, the album contains several classics that confirms Eggum as a committed and serious songwriter with a sense of melancholy. En natt forbi came out two years after Eggum´s breakthrough with the release Heksedans (1977), and was greeted with the same great reception as his previous releases. With such a successful sequel to three successful albums, it was once and for all clear to the Norwegian critics and audience that Jan Eggum was here to stay.
