Bukkene Bruse: The Ambassadors of Norwegian Folk Music
A Powerful Second Album
ÅRE contains traditional material as well as their own original compositions; tender and beautiful, wild and violent! The lines are drawn from the first album, but ÅRE also reflects the artistic development of the three individuals. Here you´ll find music with roots that go back over 800 years, like “Norafjølls” (“North of the mountains”) after the master fiddler Torleiv H. Bjørgum and “Bendik og Årolilja”. But also newly written music like “Tordis” and “Høstkveld”. Added to the trio is keyboard player Bjørn Ole Rasch and organist Kåre Nordstoga, while the care of skilled sound engineer Ingar Helgesen really makes the music hit you.
Folk Music to the People
During the last years a lot has happened for the three wandering musicians. The year prior to the Olympic Games at Lillehammer they toured with the other OG musicians in three continents, and during the winter games they performed with great success. Last autumn they represented Norway in China during an official visit. They have performed for people of all ages and social classes and have really lived up to their wish to bring folk music to the people. The three members are also individual performers outside of the group context. The trio has existed since 1989, and the first record was released in 1993.
