New album from Frida Ånnevik.
With four releases behind her, Frida has gained praise and wonderful reviews, and not least earned three Norwegian Grammy Awards. After the project “Her bor / Flyge fra”, from 2016 and 2017, she needed to ponder a bit before releasing a new solo album with brand new songs. By rewriting and singing other people’s songs, she feels that, in her own words, she can develop further and at the same time rest a bit in someone elses’s tunes. -Other songs are an album project that has been around for several years. It is a cover album with songs from a wide range of artists and songwriters. There are songs I’ve sneaked in as exstras in my concerts, some of them I sang in “Voice of the Century” on TV2, there are songs from my role models, consolation songs for myself and songs that I have wondered what would sound like in Norwegian, says Ånnevik. Over the past year she has received a lot of attention and radio play for songs as “Søtten år” , her gorgeous version of Janis Ian’s “At Seventeen”. The same goes for the latest single “Henger sammen” which is an interpretation of Alicia Keys’ “In Common”. This more poppy and danceable song is just one example of how Frida and “Andre sanger” both challenge and expand their own boundaries. With additional songs like “Tenkt meg om” (from Astrid S’s “Think before I talk”) and “Ny tråd” (from Björk’s “Unravel”) among the total ten tracks, this album is definitely a bright spot as we head into the fall.
