Kick up from Norwegian Ila Brass Band
Quite an unusual combo here: Brass Band and Choir. Nystedt’s Masquerade is much of a hit with brass bands, and Matre’s new Klang(!) takes things to a new level. Ila Brass Band celabrate forty years as actors on the cultural arena. The ensemble is a gathering place for aspiring musicians in the region, here’s both skilled amateurs, music students and professional musicians in a delightful mix. The orchestra is considered the region’s premiere brass band, which is saying rather a lot considering the Norwegian standards among brass bands internationally.
Aurum is an award-winning and ambitious choir located in Trondheim, they make 20 singers aged from 20 to 30 years. Conductor Bjørn Sagstad is known as one of the foremost conductor capacities within Sinfonietta, choir and orchestra. Composer Ørjan Matre was born in 1979 in Bergen and studied composition at the Norwegian Music Academy. One can often hear traditional elements in Matre’s music. Matre’s music is obviously playful and often quite exquisitely refined, but it also has a more serious and focused side.
