Ila Brass Band (IBB), founded in 1972, heirs from the township of Ila in Trondheim, a town located in central Norway. Through the years, the band have evolved into a community of ambitious musicians joining the band from all over the county of Trøndelag. The band consists of a combined group of skilled amateurs, music students and professional musicians. IBB have on numerous occasions proven to be among the finest of its kind in Norway. Since winning the National Championships in 1989, they have been constant performers in the top sections of Norwegian banding. IBB have also gained international reputation by qualifying for the European Championships twice and also placing high up in the Open Swiss Championships in 1999. The band have also participated in several radio- and TV shows, as well as recording several cassettes and records – lastly in collaboration with Jan Magne Førde of Brazz Brothers fame. Although the band have been the main attraction of numerous musical festivals across the nation, it is still in Trøndelag IBB are most active and keep their most important audience. Oct. 2012
