Distinctive style of play

Kid Andersen is back with the sequel to the excellent Grease Country from 2006 which was nominated to the Norwegian Grammy (Spellemannprisen). The Dreamer is his third solo album and it clear that Andersen is an artist that constantly evolves. The starting point is still the traditional blues, but Andersen is fearless and steadfast in his approach to other genres and styles. The result is nothing less than brilliant: he mixes different expressions in a masterly way, and giving them his own character through a unique guitar playing.

New and old blues

The album presents mostly Andersen´s own material, inspired from older American and British blues from the 1960s. There are traditional blues tones like "Serves Me Right to Suffer" by Jimmy Dawkins. Also, Andersen’s self-written song "A Better Day" takes up the good old blue thread and make it more than clear that Andersen master blues genre like few others. The Dreamer is also more experimental songs such as "Soul City", where Andersen blends elements of blues and soul and delivers some amazing guitar solos. The same musical playfulness is reflected in the vibrant "My Baby Lee", a tribute to his wife, and "Twist of the Century" which was inspired by the spaghetti-western music. "The Nightmare" is also worth mentioning: a 10 minute long cut filled with eminent guitar playing and musical sense.

musical treat

With him on the release, Andersen has a musikerlag world, with celebrity guests such as Charlie Musselwhite, Rick Estrin and Mark Hummel. This is really one of the great musical treats in 2007.
