First solo album by versatile accordionist Geir Otnæs
After contributing on over 70 albums, the versatile accordionist Geir Otnæs is now out with his first solo album “Lystrup på trekkspill”. The album is dedicated to melodies written by Geirr Lystrup.
Lystrup is primarily known as a folk singer and song writer, so this is Otnæs’ homage to compositions by Lystrup that few are familiar with. The music is videly influated by Geir Otnæs’ versatile career, and bears elements from blues, rock, pop, folk music, tex-mex, and last, but not least cajun- and zydeco music.
Both Otnæs and Lystrup are connected to the area of Hedmark in Norway, and the tunes are strongly connected to the life in the country side, as well as traditional Norwegian folk music. The arrangements however are far from traditional. The music is original in its take on instrumentation around the accordion, with dreamy guitars and strings taking you on a round trip of Hedmark.
