ANTONS VILLFARING

Musical success

In 2002 the musical ”Antons villfaring” had its premiere on Det Norske Teatret in Oslo. Together with Erlend Loe and Marit Moum Aune, legendary singer-songwriter Jan Eggum stood behind the staging of this musical together with renowned actors such as Bjarte Hjelmeland, Iren Reppen, Sverre Solberg and Heidi Gjermundsen Broch. The piece is built around the story of stroke-patient Anton who is laying at his deathbed. Through Anton’s shattered and confused memories, the audience are taken on a journey throughout his life, constantly attempted tied together by his failing memory. Ten of the songs from the musical was included on the CD-recording of “Antons villfaring”. With music written by Eggum, the orchestra performed and arranged the piece. Even though the songs was written with the staging of the musical in mind, the CD release stands very well on its own. Several of the songs have become popular, amongst others “Rør meg”, “Lille, lille Steinar” and “Eit kort sekund”, which all have been played both on radio and TV in Norway.
