Tora Augestad (b 1979 Bergen) is a singer and actress specializing in contemporary repertoire, cabaret, jazz and music theatre. She is educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music, Stockholm. Tora Augestad (b 1979 Bergen) is a singer and actress specializing in contemporary repertoire, cabaret, jazz and music theatre. She is educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music, Stockholm. At present Augestad works with two of the foremost ensembles for contemporary music in Europe Klangforum Wien and Ensemble Modern, and she has also worked as soloist with Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, Cikada and Oslo Sinfonietta. Tora Augestad is the vocalist in Trygve Seim Ensemble, Music for a While, and the trio BOA.
In 2009 Augestad made her debut at the Norwegian Opera and Ballet, Warsaw National Opera, Theater Basel and Märzmusik Berlin. In 2010 she featured in one of the leading roles of Beat Furrers new opera “Wüstenbuch”, directed by Christoph Marthaler. This developed into further collaborations in “Meine Faire Dame” og “Lo Stimolatore Cardiaco” at the Basel opera. In 2012 Augestad makes her debut performance at the Zürich opera and performs at theatre festivals in Edinburgh, Avignon, Napoli, Moscow and Paris.
