Small songs for piano solo. This is new music that will reach a broad audience, with references to both jazz and the romantic piano tradition. And with that certain something that makes you think ‘Norway’ when listening to it.
A lifetime in the service of music
Kristian Lindeman (and yes: the legendary L.M. Lindeman was his Great Grandfather) has been a central figure in Norwegian musical life for decades: as head of recordings for Norwegian CBS, composer of popular music, singer in the vocal groups The Vikings and Those Five during the 60s and hosted for 19 years of the national Top 10 radio show.
Norwegian earnestness delivered with Russian finesse
The refined musical quality of pianist Marina Galiakhmetova makes this recording quite special. She carries the musical lines across the bar lines, applies just the right colours and rubato…in short: delivers model interpretations of these pieces.
The liner notes are presented in English, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Norwegian, and the inlay card holds the title in all languages.
Your compositions are very skillful and touching. You hear a lot of Norway in your melodies, and Marina’s piano playing is a real delight. [Ward Swingle/Swingle Singers – Les Double Six]
I throughly enjoy your CD with many melodies I had not heard before. Marvelous stuff. [Gene Puerling/The Hi-Lo’s – Singers Unlimited]
