More songs by Christian Sinding
This recording includes more than 30 songs which have never been recorded before, with lyrics by such poets as Rückert and Bierbaum, together with Norwegians Sivle, Vinje and Wildenvey.
Of course Sinding displays his usual high standards of musical mastery in the smaller format in theese songs, well within the traditional lieder style. But we are also presented with some quite surprising aspects of Sinding’s work, like the so far quite unknown Cocaine, which he wrote in the mid 1920s. Written to a cabaret in Oslo at the time, it gives evidence that neither Sinding nor the capital of Norway were unfamiliar with this substance.
