The painter Ferdinand Finne met the eminent pianist Einar Steen-Nøkleberg in London during a Norwegian musical week. They stayed at the same hotel, and one morning they had breakfast together, Finne told Einar he wished for a CD with all of his favourite musical pieces collected. “Which favourite pieces?” asked Einar. “Well, Bach – Jesu, Joy of Man´s Desiring, Ravel´s Ondine, Debussy´s Reflets dans l´eau.” “They are also among my favourites and I play them all,” the pianist commented with a smile. A few years later the project materialized, and together they created an album filled with music by Bach, Händel, Schubert, Mozart, Debussy, Ravel, Beethoven, Nordheim and Chopin – an album that both gives insight into the musical life of one of Norway´s most sought-after and popular visual artists and displays the outstanding musical skills of one of Norway´s premier pianists.
