This Christmas Oslo Cathedral Boys Choir gives us a collection of songs that will bring the Christmas spirit to all. These are most beloved, beautifully arranged Norwegian carols – with the clarety and pureness that only a boys’ choir inhabits. The soloists are internationally recognized singers with experience from concert halls and opera scenes all over Europe.
English tradition
Oslo Cathedral Boys Choir is based on the tradition of English cathedral choirs. The boys sing the soprano lines, while the other voices is sung by men. All the choir members are given individual singing lessons, and the choir is in close collaboration with professional musicians and singers. The choir was founded in 1985 by two of the greatest conductors based in Oslo, Cathedral Cantor Terje Kvam and Sir Carl Høgset.
The choir participates in the services of the Oslo Cathedral, and the have made several tours both in and out of Norway. Magne H. Draagen has conducted the choir since 2002 and also written several of the arrangements on this record.
