A meeting between Antonio Bibalo and Anders Brunsvik

Antonio Bibalo´s music is strongly personal, imbued with a strength that is entirely his own. With freedom regarding musical styles being a key aspect of Bibalo´s music, his works draws on inspirations ranging from Schoenberg´s free tonality, the impressionist´s tonal language, Bach´s polyphonics, rhythms and scales from Balkan, and even jazz. Born in Trieste in 1922, Bibalo grew up in a cultural melting pot as well as a musical family, undoubtedly being significant inspirations on his music, as well as composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Liszt, Brahms, Chopin, Debussy and Bartok. On this album the renowned Norwegian pianist Anders Brunsvik delves into the pianistic works by Bibalo, securing the composers musical heritage for generations to come.

Anders Brunsvik has an extensive repertoire both as a soloist and as a chamber musician, and has toured in Norway, Austria, the former Yugoslavia and Morocco. He has made nearly 250 concert appearances under the aegis of the Norwegian State Foundation for Nationwide Promotion of Music and gave in 1993 numerous concerts in connection with the 150th anniversary of Edvard Grieg´s birth. Brunsvik has had programmes on the Norwegian State Radio and on television on many occasions and has made numerous recordings of contemporary solo and chamber music.
