A pioneer in her field

Torbjørg Aas Gravdal had a long-running carreer as a hardanger fiddle player, stretching from the 1930s, throughout her peak in the 60s and beyond. She was one of very few female hardanger fiddle players at the very top level in Norway in her time. Something that could definitely be a lonely situasjon, although that never stopped her. The release «Hardingfele» contains studio recordings from NRK (the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation) from the years 1963-64, as well as recordings from competitions spanning the years 1963-70. This album showcases her talent and additionally why she has become an important role model for women fiddle players after her.
