Sinikka presents a purely vocal recording

When Sinikka Langeland came to breathe life into the old ballads, she found a way of singing with roots in the district around Gustav Kåterud from Våler in Solør. She has also gained experience from working with well-known ballad singers from other parts of the country. With personal renditions and her own vocal arrangements, she presents a purely vocal recording. It contains 23 ballads that were written down by folk music collector Ludvig Mathias Lindeman and have been hidden and forgotten in the music archives until Sinikka Langeland, in co-operation with others, started the work of unearthing them in 1991.

The CD is also part of the book with the same name, "The String was of Red Gold" (Aschenhoug / Norwegian Folkeminnelag NFL 142), in which Lindeman’s records are presented with articles about the sources, about Solør as a area of tradition and Lindeman’s trip to Solør.
