Poet, translator, teacher and social commentator Jan Erik Vold is a towering figure in Norwegian cultural life with an overwhelming production to show. Since 1969, he has been almost regins supreme in Norway’s jazz & poetry genre; First, in collaboration with Jan Garbarek, and later with among others Egil Kapstad, Red Mitchell, Chet Baker, Kåre Virud, Alfred Janson and Bill Frisell. He has toured far and wide with various jazz & poetry projects and struck an impressively large audience.
The pearly performed 6CD box "ta VARE" is the widest mustering by Jan Erik Vold jazz & poetry career so far and looks at his whole career. Spread over 6 CD’s with a total running time of over 6 hours presents samples from all albums Vold has participated on: from "Briskeby Blues" (1969) to very recent recordings of Vold and Come Shine from a concert at The Norwegian Opera earlier this year. The selection is made by the Vold himself. Here are all the most famous tracks, but also recordings from the Norwegian Radiotheater with Jan Garbarek and the band that has not been available on CD before. The publication is published in conjunction with Jan Erik Vold’s 75th birthday on 18th October.

Richly illustrated
The box also includes a 100 paged richly illustrated booklet with lyrics from every album, and an interview with Jan Erik written by editor at Vindu, Kaja Schjerven Mollerin. The publication is published in conjunction with Jan Erik Vold’s 75th birthday on 18th October. At the same time, Gyldendal publishes the book “Vold’s Voice” that gathers all the poems Jan Erik Vold read on his discs.
