As a child, she listened to Jan Eggum and Tramteateret, while also enjoying Taylor Swift and Siri Nilsen.

Yngvil talks about the process:

• Releasing a debut album feels a bit like going on a first date with all of Norway – you hope they like you and that you don’t say something completely wrong! In short, this album came together through many late nights, a little orange wine, quite a bit of coffee, and a few existential crises.

When Yngvil finished high school, she actually quit music and chose to study to become a journalist. She never saw herself as a great singer, but she never stopped writing. Writing and lyrics were always her focus. It helped her sort out her thoughts and organize her mind. So when she chose to return to using her lyrics in a musical context, it was precisely the unpolished and genuine lyrics, along with her fantastic ability to convey them, that made a big impression on people. Yngvil has both timeless qualities and fresh impulses as an artist. This may be one reason why she has already made a significant impact on the Norwegian music scene and resonates with such a wide audience. It is clear that Yngvil’s music has touched many, very quickly. Her goal is to create a new wave of folk music – by bridging the old and the new worlds of folk.
