The album contains nine songs of different characters that together make a cohesive album that captures the breadth of Johanna’s various expressions. Johanna’s last album in her own name in English was in 2011 (“Madness”), and since then, she has written music in her native language, Swedish, and worked with the Americana duo Trudy & Dave, along with Alf Bretteville.
Johanna has always said that she is not concerned with genre but with good music. That being said, she is often placed in the country-Americana genre, as the influences come from an American root expression. At the same time, she has a Swedish pop gene in her blood, having grown up among Swedish folk tunes and popular music. From here, we can trace a bluesy undertone that runs through many of her songs.
