Bråten Berg’s distinctive vocal fits wonderfully into the pure and simple arrangments, characterized by a jazz-like interaction between Bråten Berg and a handful of Norway´s best musicians, such as Arild Andersen and Bugge Wesseltoft.

Back To the Singer/Songwriter Roots

Syng du mi røyst was met with great reviews and baffled both the critics and fans, and Kirsten Bråten Berg was nominated for the Norwegian Grammy Award for this album. This is Bråten Berg’s third solo album, released 13 years after her last solo release, the Norwegian Grammy Award winner Min kvedarlund (1988). In the years between these solo projects, Bråten Berg was involved in a great number of differenet musical projects within various genres, with focus on Norwegian folk music. However, on this release she explores the singer/songwriter genre, thus returning to the starting point of her artistic career. The repertoire is selected by Bråten Berg herself, and consists mainly of newer songs as well as four traditional tunes. Bråten Berg’s distinctive vocal fits wonderfully into the pure and simple arrangments, characterized by a jazz-like interaction between Bråten Berg and a handful of Norway´s best musicians, such as Arild Andersen and Bugge Wesseltoft.
