Bjøro Håland is one of a few household names in Norway known to everyone.
– Anyone who has ever met him, will have a favorable impression of this gentleman of music.
He has built a loyal fan base and an enthusiastic audience in the US too, through numerous tours, recording sessions and record releases.
Knight with the key to the city
Bjøro has recorded albums in Nashville with Elvis’ vocal group The Jordanaires, he has been named “European Male Singer of the Year”, and he has been inducted into the “Scandinavian American Hall of Fame. And, last but not least: He has been knighted by the King of Norway! Official title: “Knight of first class for highly deserving acts to promote mutual connections between the peoples of Norway and USA, especially in the music field”. Bjøro has visited a good number of prestigious concert stages around the world. Some large events, like “Norsk Høstfest” in Minot, North Dakota just cannot get enough of him, so they keep inviting him back, year after year. This year, he will make his 32nd appearance on stage there. In 2005 he was awarded the “Key to the City of Minot”.
Feet planted on the ground, and in the studio
But just as likely as he is to be performing on major stages around the world, Bjøro is known to appear in very different locations too. He has his feet firmly planted on the ground, regardless of the success that has experienced. Thus, he is as likely to appear in the most intimate settings, like performing in nursing homes for the elderly, or in senior clubs, as for large audiences in concert halls, or at events, fairs or festivals. Just recently, Bjøro finished studio recordings for a new record, to be released this autumn. His audience will yet again be appreciating his warm and gentle baritone voice, and his performances of a carefully selected batch of tunes, which will make people nod and recognize favorites, as well as making them appreciate fresh, new quality interpretations.
Anniversary cruise
Winter/spring 2017/18 will see Bjøro embarking on a 50 years anniversary tour of Norway. Performing with him on the tour will be another veteran musician: Ansten Josefsen. An interesting point in that collaboration is that Ansten was a founder member of Country Snakes, a band with whom Bjøro has been performing a lot. It so happens that this band is also celebrating 50 years since their formation r this year, so we will have a double anniversary celebrated on stages all over Norway. A unique offer to Bjøro’s fans will be available in November, as Bjøro is hosting a week-long cruise in the Carribean on a luxury cruise ship. A voyage including sightseeing at Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, and at some old Danish-Norwegian possessions: St Thomas, where Nordic names still abound in cities and villages. Passengers will also get two full Bjøro Håland concerts on board the cruise ship.
