Rock vs. Opera was a brave and innovative combination of rock – in this case Spencer Davis Group, Status Quo, Ian Dury, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles – and opera, represented with pieces by Bizet, Lehár, Mozart, Puccini and others. The mixture was outstanding, and can be seen as a form of «mash-up», decades before that even became a term.
