Sigmund Groven released his first album – in a series of three – in 2014, with selected recordings from his career spanning over 40 years as a recording artist. In 2015 he released his second album, “Tradition”, and now his third and final release of the trilogy, “Concerto”, is finally out!
Classical profile
This year is also his 70th birthday, and a fitting year for the closure of the third album in the series “Sigmund Groven Collection”. “Concerto” has a classical music profile, and contains highlights from Groven´s long career in addition to several new and previously unreleased recordings.
A musical ambassador
Sigmund Groven´s merit list tells of an important musical ambassador for Norway, and he is still busy taking on new projects: this year´s agenda is soloist jobs with Trondheim symphony orchestra and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, in addition to concerts abroad.
Sigmund Groven´s many recordings has achieved great popularity both at home and abroad, especially in Asia. “HarmOrgan”, recorded with the organist Iver Kleive in Blu-ray surround sound, was in 2012 awarded the prize for “Best recording” at the Guangzhou Music Awards in China. Sigmund has throughout his career toured the entire world, most notably a concert in New Yorks Carnegie Hall, as a soloist with a range of orchestras in Canada and USA, most notably with the Dallas symphony orchestra where he also was appointed an honorary citizen of the state of Texas.
