Tone Hulbækmo has through her musical life in Norway has been active as a singer, musician, arranger and composer. She has distinguished herself with her distinctive singing and the use of unfamiliar folk musical instruments like harmonium and medieval harp. She is known from several different genres of medieval music, folk songs, folk, world and ethnic music to more contemporary music oriented.

Hulbækmo has toured several countries and has released numerous albums both as a solo artist and as a member of the group Kalenda Maya. She has also worked extensively with her husband Hans Fredrik Jacobsen. Her albums include Kåmmå no (1983; Spellemannprisen), Kalenda Maya (1985; Spellemannprisen), Svevende jord (1986), children’s album Langt nord i skogen (1988: Spellemannprisen), Konkylie (1995), where the lyrics are poems by Halldis Moren Vesaas and Kyrkja (1999).
