Njål Sparbo is one of Norway’s most active and versatile singers. He performs regularly at festivals and on television/radio, and has appeared as soloist on 30 CD recordings. Njål Sparbo is one of Norway’s most active and versatile singers. He performs regularly at festivals and on television/radio, and has appeared as soloist on 30 CD recordings. He is a merited oratorio singer with more than 50 major oratorios on his repertoire, he has sung leading parts in traditional and contemporary opera productions and has had around 150 Lieder recitals together with Norway’s leading pianists. Sparbo has received The Kirsten Flagstad Prize, The Ingrid Bjoner Prize, The Grieg Prize, The Norwegian State’s Work-Scholarship and has taken part in the Fellowship Program for Artistic Research at the National Academy of the Arts in Oslo. He an advocate of contemporary music and contemporary performance practice, and has sung numerous world premiere performances. His solo engagements include all the major Norwegian choirs and orchestras, The Norwegian National Opera, and venues all over Europe, including Russia, USA and Japan. May 2014
