The three sonata for viola da gamba and obbligato harpsichord (BWV 1027-1029)include some of Bach’s most remarkable chamber music. Gambist og cellist Laurence Dreyfus pursues a dual career as both performer and musicologist. He has recorded for Simax, Harmonia Munci and Meridian. Dreyfus plays a french-style seven string viola da gambe made in 1979 by curtis bryant of watertown, Mass., USA. Ketil Haugsand has specialised in French and German repertoire and has toured extensively throughout europe and the united states as a recitalist, harpsichord soloist and conductor.
