Sparbo has received The Kirsten Flagstad Prize, The Ingrid Bjoner Prize, The Grieg Prize, The Norwegian State’s Work-Scholarship and has taken part in the Fellowship Program for Artistic Research at the National Academy of the Arts in Oslo. He an advocate of contemporary music and contemporary performance practice, and has sung numerous world premiere performances. His solo engagements include all the major Norwegian choirs and orchestras, The Norwegian National Opera, and venues all over Europe, including Russia, USA and Japan.
