The Oslo based soundscape artist stems from Gamvik in the Northernmost tip of the European mainland. His voice, like a mirror of the landscape, is a rare, raw jewel with facets full of beauty. The animistic vocal tradition of the Joik has influenced the Sami musician since his childhood. But he also grew up with the mandolin music of his father, played in Indie Rock groups and is inspired by folk, jazz and classical music and different musical genres of the world. Several research trips led him to Tuva, South Korea, Japan and Canada. As a much sought-after composer/performer heworks also for international theatre, film, storytelling and dance productions. Torgeir has spread Sámi art and culture to Thousands of children and youth in various education projects in Norway and Belgium. The Coastal Sámi artist is a cultural activist in the protection of wild salmon. He takes part in concerts and conferences for environmet protection and for arts and rights of indigenous peoples worldwide. The deep-voiced experimentalist is a great live performer and one of the most innovative Sámi musicians these days.
