Saxophone quartet Rollin’ Phones was founded in 1986 and has since been an important part of the Swedish music scene but has also along with its versatile chamber music repertoire become a pioneer and role model for saxophonists in the classical music scene worldwide.
Exciting collaborations with other instrumentalists/singers and art forms has always been a natural part of the work which has also included vocals, percussion, dance and visual video art. The group has toured in Europe, USA, South America, Africa and Asia with its own chamber concerts but also as soloists with choirs, wind bands and symphony orchestras.
The Saxophone Quartet Rollin ‘Phones has always been appreciated for its impressive breadth of repertoire and its artistic skill. Many compositions are played by heart, generating closer contact with the audience. This has resulted in many concert performances on great scenes as well as in smaller chamber music and jazz clubs. Previously Rollin’ Phones has released several CDs with classical / contemporary music but with this thirtieth celebration CD they have recorded a retrospective nostalgic glance at the first few years of the quartet’s career as it was focused on folkloric music and jazzy elements.
