Madelene Berg (b. 1992) began playing the violin at the age of six with Olga Pavlova in the arts school proramme in Nordfjord. Madelene Berg (b. 1992) began playing the violin at the age of six with Olga Pavlova in the arts school proramme in Nordfjord. From 2003 she was a student of Alf Richard Kraggerud at the Barratt Due Music Institute in Oslo and she is now studying with Henning Kraggerud for a Bachelor’s degree in violin performance. Berg is a member of Oslo Camerata and the quintet “Gullfiskene” (The Gold Fish), with concerts in Norway and abroad. She has played on recordings with Henning Kraggerud, Sølvguttene – Norwegian Broadcasting Boys’ Choir, Oslo Camerata and Dextra Musica & The Norwegian Soloists’ Choir. She has participated in several summer courses and master classes, including Valdres Summer Symphony, Margess (Aston) International Villefavard and Salzburg Mozarteum Int. Summer Academy. In 2007, Berg became a student at the Razumovsky Academy in London, including master classes and concerts with some of the world’s leading violinists and teachers. In addition, she began her studies at the Chetham School of Music in Manchester in 2008. Berg has played concerts in London (Wigmore Hall), Finland, Switzerland, Salzburg and France. She has been a soloist several times, including a perormance on Norwegian television, and with Elizabeth Norberg-Schulz and Luca Canonici from La Scala at the Opera North Fjords Opera Gala-tour 2007 as well as the opening concert of Opera Nordfjord 2009. She has also been a soloist at Bergen International Festival, Hardanger Music Festival 2009 and 2010, and with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra on their New Year’s concert tour in 2010, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra 2010 at the Opera Nordfjord and Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra 2011. In 2010 she reached the semi finals of NRK’s "Virtuoso 2010". She has won 1st price in the soloist class and 1st price in the duo-class during Norwegian Music Competition for Youth (UMM) 2006, 1st price with the "Golden Fish" at UMM 2007 and 1st price in the duo-class during UMM 2010. Together with Julie Yuqing Ye, she plays in "Duo Nessuno", with concerts for example at Trondheim International Chamber Music Academy. She has received Youth Art Scholarship in Sogn og Fjordane, Culture Scholarship from Eid Municipality, Dream Scholarship from the Norwegian National Lottery, Furore Scholarship and Inspiration Award (UMM). January 2011, she makes her debut with a solo recording of a work by Dagfinn Koch. Berg plays a Frederic Chaudiere violin, generously on loan by Dextra Musica (Sparebankstiftelsen DnB NOR). Jan 2012
