The Cikada String Quartet is internationally renowned for work which extends the boundaries of the modern string quartet. The group has been praised for its interest in the performance of music across a wide range of genres. The commissioning of Scandinavian and international works is central to the quartet, as are new interpretations of existing repertoire. Collaborations with distinguished composers, including George Crumb, Rolf Wallin, Stephano Gervasoni and Bent Sørensen have been highly successful. The ensemble has also worked with leading jazz musicians such as Anette Peacock, Steve Swallow, Steve Kuhn, Jon Balke, Arild Andersen and Trygve Seim. The quartet has been awarded numerous prizes and exceptional reviews for their recordings. In 2006 the Cikada String Quartet was granted the prestigious Dutch Edison Award for the CD “In due tempi” which was released on ECM, with works of Kaja Saariaho, John Cage and Bruno Maderna. 2010
