Christopher Tun Andersen (b. 1991) started playing the violin at the age of four. His teacher is Isaac Schuldman. 1998–2010 he was at the Young Talents program, Barratt Due Institute of Music, where he also was concertmaster of the Barratt Dues Junior Orchestra. Christopher Tun Andersen (b. 1991) started playing the violin at the age of four. His teacher is Isaac Schuldman. 1998–2010 he was at the Young Talents program, Barratt Due Institute of Music, where he also was concertmaster of the Barratt Dues Junior Orchestra. Christopher has taken part in several competitions, most recently the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition 2011 and the Menhuin Competition in Norway 2010. He has won numerous awards, including 1st prize in the Sparre Olsen national competition 2003, 2nd prize in the Czech International Kocian Violin Competition 2003 where he also was awarded for best performance of the obligatory Kocian Piece, 1st prize in Norway’s Young Musician Competition 2006 and 2008, 1st prize in the largest national violin competition in Germany Jugend Musiziert in 2007 and additional prize from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, as well as 2nd prize and music scholarship in the International Violin Competition Worthersee-Musikkstipendium 2007 in Austria. In 2005, he received the Dream Scholarship for Young Talents. He has participated in several festivals and master classes, both as soloist and chamber musician, including the Salzburg Summer Academy of Mozarteum, the Lisbon Music Festival and the Oslo Chamber Music Festival. He has played numerous recitals, and has participated in master classes with Zakhar Bron, Sergei Stadler and Dora Schwarzberg. Christopher has performed with Minsk Chamber Orchestra and the Brussel Chamber Orchestra. Since 2007, he has been soloist with St-Petersburg State Symphonic Orchestra under the direction of director Alexander Kantorov, performing violin concertos of Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky and Brahms.
