Bénédicte Royer

Bénédicte Royer was born in Paris in 1987, and began playing the violin and viola at an early age. She studied with Jean Sulem at CNSM in Paris, with Lars Anders Tomter at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, and with Thomas Riebl at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, where she completed her master´s degree with distinction in 2010. Bénédicte Royer was born in Paris in 1987, and began playing the violin and viola at an early age. She studied with Jean Sulem at CNSM in Paris, with Lars Anders Tomter at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, and with Thomas Riebl at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, where she completed her master´s degree with distinction in 2010. Bénédicte has great interest in performing unknown repertoire and new music. She has been a member of the Austrian Ensemble for new music since 2012, and has recorded chamber music by Geirr Tveitt for the label Simax Classics. Bénédicte has played in the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Oslo Philharmonic and the Camerata Salzburg. She has been guest solo violist in the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, and plays in the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. She was awarded 1st prize Mozarteum University Tertis Competition 2010 and 1st prize in Bodensee International Music Competition 2011 in Germany. She has been a soloist with several orchestras in Germany. Bénédicte has played solo and chamber music concerts in "la Cité de la musique" and IRCAM in Paris, Oslo, Salzburg, New York, numerous cities in Germany, and she has performed at several festivals in France, Norway, Sweden and Spain. She has also toured as a chamber musician in Norway and England. In 2012 she was invited to play with Christian Teztlaff, Andras Schiff and Gidon Cremer at the chamber music academy in Kronberg (Germany), "Chamber Music Connects the World”.
