Victoria Putterman (b 1992) is a Norwegian-American violinist who began her studies studying at the Pre-College division of the Juilliard School in 2004, with Catherine Cho. She was accepted into the Perlman Music Program in 2007, where she studies with Itzhak Perlman. An avid recitalist since her international debut at the age of nine, she has performed extensively across the US and Europe, in venues including the Prince Carl Palais in Heidelberg, Germany, and Wigmore Hall, London. She has been a prizewinner at international and national competitions, including first place at the Norwegian Music Competition for Youth in both solo and chamber music divisions. She received first place at the Sparre Olsen competition in Norway, the Versus World Violin Competition in Italy, and 3rd prize at the Kocian International Violin Competition in the Czech Republic, receiving a special award for best interpretation of a Kocian work in addition. As a chamber musician, she has performed in many ensembles internationally. She was selected by the Juilliard School to perform at their commencement ceremony in Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Other festivals she’s appeared in as a chamber musician as well as soloist include Valdres Sommersymfoni, Aurora Chamber Music, Summit Music Festival, and Margess International. She has performed in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Robert Mann, Henning Kraggerud, Glenn Dicterow, Philippe Graffin, Miriam Fried, and Zakhar Bron, with whom she has also studied in Cologne. Orchestrally, she has performed in the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra at Rose Theater, Lincoln Center. She has also appeared in halls such as the National Norwegian Opera as a member of the Oslo Camerata, in collaboration with such artists as Elise Båtnes and Truls Mørk. She is currently a bachelor’s student at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo under the tutelage of Stephan Barratt-Due. Jan 2012
