Helge Kjekshus (b 1968 in Toronto, Canada) is a Norwegian pianist. Kjekshus is at the forefront among Norwegian soloists. He has studied with professor Jiri Hlinka at the Bergen Music Conservatory with Professor Boris Berman at Yale University, New Haven. Prior to this, he received a diploma with the best achievable grade at the Norwegian Academy of Music. In the US he has played with the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra, the Bernische Musik Gesellschaft in Switzerland and the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra of Russia. He have held solo concerts in USA, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Lebanon, Japan, South Korea and Norway, and performed at numerous international festivals. Helge Kjekshus received the prestigious Grieg Prize 1998. He is now professor of piano at the Academy of Music in Piteå, Luleå Technical University in Sweden. September 2013
