Elisabeth Holmertz is a classically trained soprano who began singing so-called ”early music” in the beginning of the 90’s and contemporary music late in the same decade and has, since then, distinguished herself as one of Scandinavia’s boldest interpreters in both fields. Holmertz mixes genres, styles and expressions; one day lute songs, the next day pop music, the third day avantgarde performance and experimental opera.
Over the years she has performed with ensembles and orchestras such as Cikada, Concerto Copenhagen, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and Danish Chamber Orchestra. She is also a member and cofounder of ensemble Odd Size.
At the moment Elisabeth Holmertz is working on an artistic phd., about genre-jumping singers, at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Her home address is in Oslo, but Elisabeth feels equally at home in Gothenburg, Copenhagen and the rest of the world.
