Arvid Engegård was born in Bodø, North Norway in 1963. Only eleven, Arvid was leading his first string quartet in concerts throughout Norway. Arvid took his instrumental diploma at Trondheim Conservatory aged sixteen, and continued his studies at the Eastman School of Music. In Salzburg he studied with Sándor Végh, and was invited by him to lead Camerata Academica, a position he kept for eight years. Arvid took his instrumental diploma at Trondheim Conservatory aged sixteen, and continued his studies at the Eastman School of Music. In Salzburg he studied with Sándor Végh, and was invited by him to lead Camerata Academica, a position he kept for eight years. Engegård has appeared regularly at Europes most prestigious chamber music festivals, including Lockenhaus, the Salzburg Festival, Musiktage Mondsee and Mozartwoche. Since 1999 Arvid has developed a considerable career as a conductor working with orchestras including Camerata Bern, the BBC Concert Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Camerata Academica Salzburg, Swedish Radio Orchestra, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic, Oslo Philharmonic, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra. Arvid Engegård is the Artistic Director of Lofoten International Chamber Music Festival and in 2000 was awarded the Nordlys Prize. In 2006 he formed Engegård Quartet, which is now one of Scandinavia’s most sought-after chamber music ensembles and regularly performs throughout Europe. March 2012
