Thomas Rimul graduated from The Norwegian Academy of Music in 1998. Thomas Rimul graduated from The Norwegian Academy of Music in 1998. He is the artistic director of Ensemble Ernst, one of the leading contemporary ensembles in the Nordic countries, former chief conductor of Arktisk Sinfonietta in Tromsø, and is well established as a profiled interpreter of contemporary music. With these and other orchestras and ensembles he has premiered more than a hundred works, and in 2011 Rimul and Ensemble Ernst were awarded the Artist of the year price by The Norwegian Society of Composers. He has recorded with, amongst others, Ensemble Ernst, Bodø Sinfonietta and The Norwegian Radio Orchestra. Through his involvement in the "Transposition" project, he has repeatedly conducted Vietnam national Symphony orchestra and taught Vietnamese conductors. He has taught at the Norwegian Academy of Music and is a former conducting/research fellow at the University of Stavanger.
