Arild Sandvold (1895-1984) was an organist, choir director, composer and teacher who made his mark on sacred music in Norway for two generations. He was educated in Oslo and in Leipzig where he studied with Karl Straube. He was cathedral organist in Oslo from 1933 to 1966 and taught at the Music Conservatory for more than fifty years. He taught also at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Oslo and at the Norwegian School of Theology MF, and was an active member of the Norwegian Organists Society.
