Sigmund Groven\u00b4s Grieg Album was released at the end of the Grieg Year 2007, which was the 100th year commemoration of Edvard Grieg\u00b4s death. This album is an elegant tribute to the great composer. Groven himself has selected the 27 pieces included on the release, and has given them new arrangements especially for harmonica. Grieg Album is a beautiful and personal album, and Groven\u00b4s approach to the Grieg compositions is both a respectful and playful one. The release enforces Groven\u00b4s role as a brilliant communicator of Norwegian culture as well as his position as one of our favorite musicians.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time Groven takes hold of Grieg\u00b4s music. For years he has been involved in various projects and he has communicated Grieg\u00b4s lyrical tones worldwide. Listening to Groven perform Grieg feels like the most natural thing in the world, and the material on the album also exposes the harmonica very well. Groven himself says that it has been difficult to pick out pieces from Grieg\u00b4s voluminous work, but he has still managed to pick out what he describes as some of his absolute favorites.
