Liv Andrea Hauge Trio releases its third album,<\/b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>D\u00f8gnville<\/b><\/em>, on Norwegian label<\/b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>Hubro<\/strong>. The record explores the feeling of being \u201cd\u00f8gnvill\u201d \u2013 a Norwegian term describing the sensation of being out of sync with time and reality, like during jet lag or insomnia. The music inhabits this liminal space between structure and freedom, consciousness and dream.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Half of the compositions were written while pianist and composer\u00a0<\/span>Liv Andrea Hauge<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>was bedridden with a high fever \u2013 in a semi-lucid, dreamlike state. The other half emerged ahead of the trio\u2019s European tour in autumn 2024. The result is a fusion of fresh inspiration and songs shaped and seasoned through live performance \u2013 a record rooted in both spontaneity and maturation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Since forming in 2022, the trio \u2014\u00a0<\/span>Liv Andrea Hauge (piano), Georgia Wartel Collins (bass)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>August Gl\u00e4nnestrand (drums)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>\u2014 has become a compelling voice in modern acoustic jazz. With extensive touring across Norway and internationally, and two previous album releases, the band has cultivated a strong, intuitive musical chemistry.\u00a0<\/span>D\u00f8gnville<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>reflects this \u2014 presenting a sound that is more serious and contemplative than earlier works, echoing the uncertainty and introspection of our times.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The first single,\u00a0<\/span>\u201cNatt natt natt\u201d<\/strong>, was released on June 20. The second,\u00a0<\/span>\u201cKarja\u201d<\/strong>, dropped on August 1 \u2014 a beat-driven track with rich harmonic textures, inspired by artists like\u00a0<\/span>Kaja Draksler<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>Kirke Karja<\/strong>,<\/b> revealing a new side of the trio.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Liv shares:\u00a0<\/span>\u201cSometimes songs come quickly \u2014 like \u2018Karja,\u2019 which I wrote right after seeing Kirke Karja perform at Victoria. Other times, ideas arrive piece by piece, and we piece them together during rehearsal.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Musically, the trio draws inspiration from a wide range of artists \u2014 from\u00a0<\/span>Keith Jarrett<\/strong>,<\/b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>Kit Downes<\/strong>,<\/b> and the\u00a0<\/span>Mats Eilertsen Trio<\/strong>,<\/b> to\u00a0<\/span>Close Erase<\/strong>,<\/b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>Caroline Polachek<\/strong>,<\/b> and\u00a0<\/span>Little Simz<\/strong>.<\/b> The compositions often develop in the rehearsal room through collective play, improvisation, and experimentation. Arrangements are shaped collaboratively, and many ideas arise spontaneously \u2014 after concerts or while traveling.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

D\u00f8gnville<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>was recorded over three days in April 2025 at\u00a0<\/span>Newtone Studio<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>outside Oslo, with\u00a0<\/span>Leif Johansen<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>engineering. The entire album was recorded live in one room to preserve the trio\u2019s signature spontaneity and allow for real-time collective improvisation \u2014 even in the studio versions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Some tracks represent new sonic directions, while others continue the trio\u2019s recognizable sound.\u00a0<\/span>“Mange av oss”<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>(\u201cMany of Us\u201d<\/em>) is an internal favorite \u2014 an energetic, feel-good tune that consistently uplifts live audiences.\u00a0<\/span>\u201cKarja\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>is another live highlight, with its intricate rhythmic character and distinctive momentum.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The trio was originally formed for Hauge\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Footprints<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>tour in 2022. After just four days of rehearsal, they recorded their debut album\u00a0<\/span>Live from St. Hanshaugen<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>\u2014 the beginning of a musical journey that has since taken them to\u00a0<\/span>Portugal, Japan, Romania<\/strong>,<\/b> and across\u00a0<\/span>Norway<\/strong>.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The album release will be marked by a tour in\u00a0<\/span>September 2025<\/strong>,<\/b> with concerts in\u00a0<\/span>Harstad, Oslo, Stockholm<\/strong>,<\/b> and\u00a0<\/span>Hameln, Germany<\/strong>.<\/b> In\u00a0<\/span>spring 2026<\/strong>,<\/b> the trio continues with performances across\u00a0<\/span>Austria, France<\/strong>,<\/b> and Norway, including a school tour (DKS) in the\u00a0<\/span>Helgeland<\/strong>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>region.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This tour also marks the debut of bassist\u00a0<\/span>Kertu Aer<\/strong>, who will join the group from fall 2025 as\u00a0<\/span>Georgia Wartel Collins<\/strong>relocates permanently to the USA. Kertu is known from bands such as\u00a0<\/span>Lightning Trio<\/strong>,<\/b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>Mona Krogstad Quartet<\/strong>,<\/b> and\u00a0<\/span>When I Return<\/strong>,<\/b> and has performed with artists like\u00a0<\/span>Hans Hulb\u00e6kmo<\/strong>\u00a0<\/b><\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>Emil B\u00f8<\/strong>.<\/b> Liv and August describe her as\u00a0<\/span>\u201ca bassist with infectious stage energy, clear and inspiring playing, and a truly wonderful presence.
