First solo album by versatile accordionist Geir Otn\u00e6s<\/p>\n
After contributing on over 70 albums, the versatile accordionist Geir Otn\u00e6s is now out with his first solo album “Lystrup p\u00e5 trekkspill”. The album is dedicated to melodies written by Geirr Lystrup.<\/p>\n
Lystrup is primarily known as a folk singer and song writer, so this is Otn\u00e6s’ homage to compositions by Lystrup that few are familiar with. The music is videly influated by Geir Otn\u00e6s’ versatile career, and bears elements from blues, rock, pop, folk music, tex-mex, and last, but not least cajun- and zydeco music.<\/p>\n
Both Otn\u00e6s and Lystrup are connected to the area of Hedmark in Norway, and the tunes are strongly connected to the life in the country side, as well as traditional Norwegian folk music. The arrangements however are far from traditional. The music is original in its take on instrumentation around the accordion, with dreamy guitars and strings taking you on a round trip of Hedmark.<\/p>\n
