Debut release from all star band Although the band Finland has existed since 2010, \u201cRainy Omen\u201d is their first release. Finland consists of five musicians who\u00a0have made their indisputable mark on the Norwegian music scene in the last decade, and who have individually been\u00a0involved in countless other bands and recordings. The band project has come about more as a result of excess enthusiasm\u00a0than of necessity \u2013 and musical enthusiasm is, in fact, what characterises this debut release. The members of Finland are guitarist Ivar Grydeland (Huntsville), drummer P\u00e5l Hausken (In the Country, Ida Jenshus), keyboard wizard Morten\u00a0Qvenild (In the Country, sPaceMonkey, Susanna & the Magical Orchestra), and the superb bass player Jo Berger Myhre (Splashgirl, Nils Petter\u00a0Molv\u00e6r, Mariam the Believer). In Finland they are investigating a more rock-oriented, spontaneous and extrovert type of music than in many of\u00a0the other bands they play in. Their music encompasses an encyclopaedic number of genres and sources of inspiration, and their debut album\u00a0serves as documentation of the point where different musical paths and dialogues intersect in the band at this particular time. Elements of\u00a0instrumental film music, post-, prog-, noise and freedom rock, and airy Americana are all included in the appealing and well-composed musical\u00a0melting pot that constitutes \u201cRainy Omen\u201d. Finland as a rock band cannot be described with superficial metaphors or by listing their sources of\u00a0inspiration, but even on their debut album they already have their own distinctive sound.<\/p>\n
