Varied and bold The\u00a0dutch-norwegian vocalist and composer Jessica Sligter received\u00a0glowing reviews for her previous album \u00abFear and the Framing\u00bb and\u00a0for her debutalbum released\u00a0under the moniker J\u00e6.\u00a0\u00abA Sense Of\u00a0Growth\u00bb is by far Jessica\u00b4s best and most adventurous album so far.\u00a0The varied, bold and more abstract sonic surroundings suits\u00a0her\u00a0songwriting and both intimate and dramatic presence extremely well.\u00a0\u00abA\u00a0Sense of Growth\u00bb was recorded in Seattle and was produced by Jessica\u00a0and Randall Dunn (Marissa Nadler, Akron\/Family, Earth) who also mixed\u00a0Jessica\u00b4s last album. Eyvind Kang on viola\u00a0and bass (Mr Bungle,\u00a0Animal Collective, John Zorn) is one of many contributing musical\u00a0guests, and has also written string arrangements.\u00a0Jenny Hval is also\u00a0contributing with vocals\u00a0on two tracks on the new album.<\/p>\n

Since\u00a0her previous album Sligter has done many different collaboration\u00a0projects and written commissioned works together with amongst others\u00a0Susanna and Jenny Hval. Jenny Hval is also\u00a0contributing with vocals\u00a0on two tracks on the new album. Several\u00a0songs on the album was originally written for a concert Jessica did\u00a0with Susanna at Henie Onstad Art Center in 2014 for the exhibition\u00a0\u00abWe live on a star\u00bb. The song \u00abMercilessly Clear\u00bb\u00a0is based on a\u00a0Harry Martinson’s novel\/long form poem \u00abAniara\u00bb.<\/p>\n
