Jan Eggum – RIO In his forty years long career , Jan Eggum, has always been interested in developing his own musical expression. This has brought him to many exciting musical encounters with different musical genres, ranging from the pop group \u00abSaft\u00bb to Bergen Philharmonic Society, or the jazz-rock group \u00abCutting Edge\u00bb to the folk \/ singer-songwriter group \u00abGitarkameratene\u00bb. Skilled musicians have always enjoyed playing Eggum songs because they are musically demanding to play and always presents challenges. Therefore it feels quite natural that Jan Eggum in 2014 went to the capital for Latin American music; Rio, to record an album with the musicians of Gilberto Gil \u2013 Brazil’s legendary singer-songwriter and minister of Culture under the previous president, Silvia de Lula. He is not the first European artist who goes to Rio to be inspired by the magic of Brazilian music. When you hear the result and hear with what natural platitude these musicians interpret Eggum’s melodies, you gets the impression that this is a partnership that has lasted many years. It has not. It has only been running for forteen days. It was a musical encounter characterized by magic and mutual love.<\/p>\n
